Science expresses the universe in five categories: Time, Space, Matter, Power and Motion. But in 1450 BC Genesis 1: 1-2 revealed this: "In the beginning (Time) God created (Power) the heavens (Space) and the earth (Matter). And the Spirit of God was hovering (Motion) over the waters."
It's only recently that modern science has discovered that everything we see is composed of invisible atoms. But the Bible tells us this, (Hebrews 11:3). Scientists now understand that the universe is expanding or stretching out. But nine times in the Bible we're told this, (Psalm 104:2).
At a time when it was believed that the earth sat on a giant (1500 BC), the Bible spoke of the earth's free float in space, (Job 26:7).
The prophet Isaiah tells us that the earth is round, (Isaiah 40:22). The word refers to a sphere. Secular man only discovered this 2400 years later.
For ages scientists believed in a geocentric view of the universe, with the sun revolving around the earth. Today we know that the earth's rotation on its axis is responsible for the sun's rising and setting. But 3500 years ago God's Word said so, (Job 38: 12-14). The picture is of a clay vessel being turned on the potter's wheel, an accurate analogy of the earth's rotation. Luke 17: 34-36 says Christ's 2nd coming will occur while some are asleep and others working, another clear indication of a revolving earth with day and night at the same time.
For many years critics scoffed at Psalm 19: 5-6 .They thought the sun was stationary. Then it was discovered that the sun is moving through space at 600,000 miles per hour. It has a circuit just as the Bible states.
In Genesis 2: 1 the word "completed" means "never to occur again." Thousands of years later the 1st Law of Thermodynamics states this; that matter cannot be created.
Three places in the Bible indicate the earth is wearing out: Isaiah 51: 6, Psalm 102: 25-26, Hebrews 1: 11 This is what the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics states - that everything is running down and wearing out.
In Job 38: 35 God makes a seemingly ludicrous scientific statement that light can be sent and then manifest itself in speech. But radio waves travel at the speed of light. Science didn't discover this until 1864.
Job 38: 19 asks a question: Modern science has only recently discovered that light has a way, travelling at 186,000 miles per second.
Science has also discovered that stars emit radio waves, which are received on earth as high-pitched noise. God said this to Job 3500 years ago, (Job 38: 7). WOW! The Bible is unique.
Most of the great scientists of the past who founded and developed the very disciplines of science were creationists. They realised that they were only thinking God's thoughts after Him. May we stand in awe of our great God who has revealed Himself fully in Jesus Christ and learn how to share our faith.
